Meet Belinda Peregrín Schüll, aka just Belinda (born August 15, 1989), a Spanish-born Mexican singer-songwriter. She kicked things off at 10, starrin’ as the lead in the children’s telenovela ¡Amigos X Siempre! in 2000. After that, she popped up in other kids’ shows like Aventuras en el Tiempo (2001) and Cómplices al Rescate.

In 2003, her first album, Belinda, blew up in Latin America, movin’ over 2.5 million copies worldwide. It dropped bangers like her first single “Lo Siento,” plus “Ángel,” “Boba Niña Nice,” and “Vivir,” the theme song for Corazones al Límite. After splittin’ from Sony BMG and her management in 2005, she came back with her second album, Utopía (2006), which scored two Latin Grammy nods and went platinum in Mexico. It had hot tracks like “Ni Freud Ni Tu Mamá,” “Bella Traición,” and “Luz Sin Gravedad.”
Belinda’s also been in movies, like Disney’s The Cheetah Girls 2 (2006), and did voice work for The Tale of Despereaux (2008) and Las Aventuras de Tadeo Jones (2012). She jumped back into Mexican TV with Camaleones (2009) and Mujeres asesinas 3 (2010), which inspired her album Carpe Diem, with the hit “Egoísta.” Her fourth album, Catarsis, hit number one in Mexico, led by singles “En El Amor Hay Que Perdonar” and “En La Obscuridad.” Right now, she’s filmin’ Baywatch with Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson.
With over 2 million albums sold in the US and 16 million worldwide, Belinda’s a big deal, and outlets like Billboard and Daily Mail have crowned her the “Princess of Latin Pop.”
